The Foundation has been formed to, in succession to the Diocese of Sandhurst, conduct, manage and administer the following objects, for the benefit of the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Sandhurst, the congregation of the Cathedral and the wider community of the City of Greater Bendigo:

(a) the promotion of movable cultural heritage, in all its forms, including by the collection, acquisition, preservation and examination of Items of Significance relating to the Cathedral, the Diocese of Sandhurst, the Catholic Church and the City of Greater Bendigo (the Collections);

(b) the promotion of music and performing arts, in all their forms, including by: promoting, preserving and contributing artistic expressions in the arts by contributing resources to the training of musicians, playwrites, artists and other people with endeavor in music and performing arts by commissioning the compoition of musical and dramatic works;
